Rakitnica canyon hike takes us through the first part of the canyon. The hike itself is not long, but it's demanding and needs a good level of physical fitness.

We start from the river itself and very soon stop at Dolovi stećci necropolis, a medieval necropolis dating back to 13th century which will be inscribed as UNESCO world heritage site this year. Here we will learn the histry of Umoljani.

The hike continues towards seven mills on Sedrenik creek. From there we will enter the canyon. The hike offers great, unspoiled nature, amazing canyon and drinkable Rakitnica river!

Expect to fight through the shrubs, as the trail is not often visited.

We will make a break for lunch at small hanging Đuro's bridge that connects Lukomir (Bjelašnica) and Bobovica (Visočica) highland villages. We will continue to the latter. This is where the trail is steapest, and those afraid of the hights will not be comfortable. After half an hour, we'll get to Bobovica village, from which we descend an an easy trail back to our starting point at the river.
