Hiking the front lines is a trip that offers the best of hiking combined with recent war history. 3 mountains, 4 peaks, 1 ridge, many war stories and amazing views. From Treskavica mountain, over Hojta ridge, up to the Peak of lost dignity, into the forests of Igman.
Day 1: Treskavica
- Pick up at 08:00 anywhere in Sarajevo.
- We will start from highland platou between Bjelašnica and Treskavica mountains. Very soon crossing the first trenches.
- On our way we will see some leftovers from bunkers from the last war, just before climbing Oblik peak for the view on Sarajevo.
- We will continue to Barice peak, 2076m, where we will have picnic lunch.
- Descent to Poljice, and crossing Hojta to our final destination today - Bijele vode mountain hut.
- Dinner and sleeping in the hut.
Day 2: Bjelašnica
- Breakfast.
- Packing and slowly ascending to the highest peak of Bjelašnica and talk about the olympics, austo-hungarian times, as well as the last war which didn't spare even the olympic centre.
- Continuing over the ridge for amazing views on all sides.
- Picnic lunch at Mala Vlahinja peak overlooking Igman mountain.
- Visiting Lokvanjsko lake.
- Ending the day with a walk in Fir forests of Igman, to breathe the freshest air in Europe!
- Return to Sarajevo from Veliko polje at 18:00
