In the eastern Bosnian town of Srebrenica, in July 1995, in a matter of a few days more than 8372 Bosniak Muslim men and boys were systematically executed by the Bosnian Serb Army and Police. This was the peak of the genocide committed against the Bosniak population in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1992-95. The remains of the Bosniak men and boys were buried in hidden mass graves by the Bosnian Serbs. The locations of mass graves was found, exhumed and identified through DNA analysis. The identified remains are buried in the Srebrenica - Potočari Memorial Center and Cemetery.
